Chromatic archives of a bygone era
Historical testimony to Wynwood's last moment of creative authenticity, photographed in May 2015 - a few months before the official rezoning that would transform the neighborhood for good. This series documents the heyday of the "graffiti paradise" before its radical metamorphosis into a luxury residential district.
Today, most of the spontaneous murals have disappeared, replaced by residential building facades. Iconic places like Electric Pickle and Wood Tavern have closed to make way for 45-storey towers. A property bought for $300,000 in the 80s recently sold for $7.75 million. The Live Local Act real estate boom (2023-2025) completes this transformation: LIVWRK Wynwood (3 towers, 1,363 units), Ultimate Wynwood (2 towers of 36 floors), Wynwood Tower (41 floors).
This collection visually archives a Wynwood that no longer exists and can no longer be photographed in its original configuration. The alternation between explosive tropical color and structural black & white reveals a rigorous documentary approach to the changing urban territory.
